[ Have a pout -- and then a grin. Challenge accepted, father-mine.
Still latched on. Because she has, actually missed this. ]
It's not bad behavior if I'm out there helping people. [ A beat, and then, more contritely: ] But okay, I know you worry.

Waking the Dead 2.0 : 28 May 2063 // "walk around feeling like a leaf"

[ Her day's been full of clearing things up at Balamb, sorting out a schedule with her special case kids so that she can slot in her sessions with the Whisperers at Kibo without spreading herself too thin.
She hasn't mentioned to anyone, how Hikaru had texted her at a most ungodly hour to inform her that they needed someone to teach the incoming set, that Kalika could use a friend closeby, and that he wanted his mother to stick to Japan ( she'd laughed at that last one ) -- and of course, who was she to say no to that, answering simply: Thank you, for this opportunity. Now go to bed.
Wandering into Haven now, scanning the area and informed shortly after that her husband is upstairs with company, sorting out Maenad-related business, and then heading on up to the apartment herself. ]

[ Coming over just to make her presence seen, a hand coming to quietly squeeze Cen's shoulder as she smiles at the vampire, ] Hey, Lex. No need to rush on my account. Need to fix up dinner, you boys sort out business.
[ Never let it be said that she was a distraction when more important things are afoot.
Wandering off to the kitchen now to hunt up something from the fridge, wrinkling her nose at the lack of certain things and settling for two eggs and a few strips of bacon.
...Maybe she should. Nah, he can cook something for himself if he's hungry.
Grabbing a bottle of Renae's favorite wine ( imported from Italy, stock grown from his father's vineyard, go figure, ) because mulling over this Whisperer business is something that needs a good red. ]

[ Swallowing her wine down the wrong pipe for a minute there, and laughing because really? That line.
Downing the rest of it now and setting the glass down with a clink. ] You are so corny, why did I marry you again? [ A beat, the scrunching up of her nose. ] Right, because I have questionable taste.
[ It's an old joke. One she was all-too happy to fall back into when she quit running the wrong way and rounded ( with some help from her meddling offspring ) on the right one.
Drumming fingers idly in his direction now, in a gesture that is asking if work is finally done and she can actually have his undivided attention. ] Sorry, long day. Had to sort some things at Balamb.

[ Oh, she knows your tells, mister. Half a century down the line and you still have that thing you do when you have to share and you don't want to.
Catching the front of his shirt and tugging him down even as she lifts up a bit from her seat, then planting a long one just to soothe that pout from his lips, the lightest of tugs on his lower lip just to indulge herself ( and okay, him too. ) ] Nothing that won't keep me from home. I promise.
[ Three years since the end of the Darkest Vigil, she is all-too happy to be stationed where she can keep an eye on him, or head up to Sagada at a moment's notice if she's needed ( and even if she's not. )
Fingers twining through his now, and glad for the open affection they have always had with each other, even in the years when they'd been maneuvering towards fine, better, and finally, okay. ]

[ Okay, maybe leaning again ( there is a reason Renae gives them a wide berth muttering my parents are overgrown teenagers, wtf with much affection before he bounces off to his room ) for just one... okay, just a little bit more before she breaks off and presses her face into his chest with a smile.
She is totally, totally fine with this.
Pulling back and pouring herself a second helping, and then seamlessly topping off a glass for Cen. ] They need someone to teach the newbies, and then Kalika needs company especially after... [ she trails off and glances up at her husband with a Look ] and uh, something about wanting Kasumi to stick to Japan.
[ Frowning now. Wait. Now that she comes to think on it -- what did he mean by that? ]

[ Looking into her own glass and thinming on that before she takes a sip. ] Apparently?
[ A quirk of the brow as she recalls a bunch of the novices mentioning how they'd been at the Hall when Zangyaku's leading lady had come by for a quick visit.
Not voicing it yet, because thinking.
It is written all over her face though. ]

[ Folding her legs under her on the chair now and running an idle hand through her hair as she thinks this through. Tongue in cheek because, yeah. Perfect point there, Profaci.
And because-- ] Did you notice anything weird while we were in Tokyo?
[ Because you know, she was kind of distracted. And distraught over blademate's decisions. ]

Waking the Dead 1.5 : 3 February 2047, Sagada // Apologies.

[ There is an odd kind of irony about standing with her children at her back ( their tiny hands grown now, to fit your own ) in a manner that brings her back to the day after Alistair Mordechai walked her home.
It wasn't the sky above Sagada overhead at the time, but the ceiling of the parking lot at Serendra, and where Renae and Margat had clung shyly to her fingers at the time, their hands now nudge her forward, tug her with, and when she hesitates still, they leave her to head over to greet the man they call father and shower him with greetings and warm hugs.
She shouldn't be here. This is their time away from each other, weeks spent apart because it is January, and not April, that is the cruellest month.
When he looks up, she'll be smiling shyly, hesitant to approach because she's bot entirely sure what to say or do.
So near and yet so far -- wasn't that the old cliché? ]

[ If she were in fox form her ears would be flat against her head. Instead, sticking to Cen's side like a stubborn leaf to fur and tossing her mother a look of heh, mama, hallo when Cisco sights them and narrows a look at her before that familiar smile lights up her features like the sun's just come back round. ]
Before you give me the sermon that's due remember please that I love you very, very, very, very much?
[ The sadface is never going to work but it's always worth a shot? ]

[ The look on her face is summed up as mutinous.
But-- ]
Okay.
[ Why does this feel like that time she nearly crashed his car? ]
But-- ]
Okay.

[ Well, she knows why Mom gets her lineface when Dad tosses her that grin.
( Renae never gets that look. Ever. )
Following suit and flopping down now into one of the seats -- and then grabbing a cushion to set on her lap so that she can worry it with the tips of her fingers. ]
I want lawful representation.

[ Silence. For likely a full minute. And then some.
Turning to him with a thought that she waves off anyway because, no.
Head moving to look back again -- but no.
Maybe--
--shaking head. No. ]
I got nothing.
[ And the look on her face is simply: I don't like it when I've got nothing and there is probably something? ]

Hi, [ hands sliding into the warmth of her coat now -- not her Netsach one, the other one he gave her from before. Because the twins insisted on it.
A straying of the gaze to one side, because wow, shit, this kind of really hurts and one hand coming up to tuck her hair behind one ear as she rocks back on her heels. ] They wanted to come. I was outvoted.
[ Deliberate casualness in that shrug -- a little too deliberate it's really rehearsed. And she hates that. They're good every other month in the goddamn year, but January consistently sucks.
And then, the admission: ] They know.
[ About the one we lost. About why we do this every year.
A half-coughed laugh, the next words reaching for humor she doesn't really feel. ] Apparently, nosy runs in the family.
